The Field of Geohazards Research

The Division of Geohazard Research is engaged in investigating and assessing of geohazards and related theory development, carrying studies on special rocks and complex geoengineering problems and the mechanism of geohazards in the tectonic-active areas, and assessing potential geohazards on construction projects.  The Division owns the Soil Mechanics and Engineering Geology Laboratory, the Geological Disaster Warning Laboratory, affiliated with Secretariat Office of Neotectonics and Geohazard Special Committee of the International Association of Engineering Geology and Environment (IAEG-C24). The research team is composed of 13 scientific researchers: six Research Professors, five Associate Research Professors, and two post-doctoral researchers, an active and energetic team made up of mid-aged Ph.Ds.
The Division completed a dozen of nation-, province-, and ministry-funded projects: the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), the National ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation, China Geological Survey, the Ministry of Railways, and the Ministry of Communications.  The Division has made a series of important achievements in neotectonics and geohazards, crustal stability and major geoengineering projects, making contributions to the geohazard prevention and the planning of national major projects.  The Division  has published nearly 200 papers in the core journals (domestically and internationally) and five monographs.
