- Professor Long Changxing was born in Neiqiu County, Hebei Province in Dec. 1955.At present, he serves 
  as Director, a professor and a doctoral advisor in the Institute of Geomechanics, Chinese Academy of
  Geological Sciences.

 - He graduated from the Department of Geology, Hebei Geological College in 1975; studied for a master's
   degree in geomechanics at the Postgraduate Department of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences
   from 1978 to  1981, with Academician Chen Qingxuan as his tutor; received his master of science degree
   in 1981; worked on research of geomechanics in the Institute of Geomechanics during 1981-1987.

 - After going to study in Canada in 1987, he received his doctor's degree in geophysics from Canadian
   Dalhousie University in 1993, and completed the post-doctoral research in American University of
   Notre Dame in 1996.

 - During 1997-2001, he served successively as a researcher in GEOMAR and University of Wisconsin-
   Madison. During 2001-2005, he was employed by the University of Birmingham as a researcher.

Main research fields

1. Studies on deep structure and upper mantle anisotropy and its geodynamic significance with
    application of artificial earthquake and natural earthquake.

 2. Studies on oil and gas geophysics and seismic survey technology and method of submarine   
     hydrate, including high-precision 3D seismic survey and OBS detection technology.

 3. Studies on experimental study of rock physical properties, including changes of rock physical 
     properties under different temperature and pressure conditions and its relation with the
     internal structure.


He has been responsible for or participated in many major international cooperative projects,
published more than 20 academic papers and translated one book.
